The Baylor Percussion Symposium showcases new music’s most recognized and innovative artists during two days of masterclasses and concerts on the Baylor University campus each spring. Past symposia have featured Pulitzer Prize winners Steve Reich and David Lang, as well as percussion super-stars Steven Schick, Doug Perkins, and So Percussion. The annual event brings together the most original voices in contemporary music and creates a platform for dialogue between students and professionals.
The 2014 Baylor Percussion Symposium takes place February 28-March 1, 2014, and features guest artists Tristan Perich, the Meehan/ Perkins Duo, and the Baylor Percussion Group. All events are free and open to the public.
Funding for the Baylor Percussion Symposium comes from the Baylor School of Music’s Lyceum Fund, the Baylor Percussion Excellence Fund, the Baylor University Office of the Vice Provost, Vic Firth, Pearl/Adams, Zildjian, Black Swamp Percussion, and Remo.
